Meet Mr. Mike
Mr. Mike began his journey into worm castings during the pandemic in 2020. At the time, he was working as a truck driver, but on weekends he turned to gardening as a way to stay productive and learn something new in uncertain times.
After discovering worm castings through countless hours of research and videos, he decided to give it a try himself. What started as a simple experiment quickly became a passion. Like many growers, his early attempts came with challenges—he began with 500 worms and lost nearly two-thirds of them. But through persistence, trial and error, and a commitment to learning, he rebuilt his colony and grew it into a thriving population of over 100,000 worms.
Today, Mr. Mike continues to refine his process, combining hands-on experience with ongoing study to produce rich, nutrient-dense, top-tier worm castings. His approach focuses on quality over shortcuts, using carefully selected inputs—like softened wood chips and spent mushroom substrate—to create an optimal environment for his worms.
As his operation has grown, so has his commitment to sustainability. With limited space and an ever-expanding worm population, he regularly introduces a portion of his worms into natural environments where they can continue to thrive.
